Why Choose Fantastic Fence

Low Maintenance. Long Lasting. Built for Sacramento.

Vinyl fencing is one of the most popular residential fence materials in the United States, and for good reason. It doesn’t rot, doesn’t rust, doesn’t need staining, and holds its appearance year after year with virtually no maintenance. Because it’s a manufactured product—not a natural material like wood—the manufacturer controls its consistency, UV resistance, and structural performance.

At Fantastic Fence, we install premium vinyl fence systems in a variety of styles and heights including privacy, picket, semi-privacy, and ranch rail options. Our vinyl fence materials feature high-quality, non-recycled vinyl raw materials, heavy-wall posts, reinforced bottom rails, and tongue-and-groove picket construction. Available in white and tan—the two most popular and affordable color options in the Sacramento area.

Vinyl Fence Styles We Install

Vinyl fencing comes in several distinct style categories, each designed for a different purpose.

Picket Fences (Front Yards & Decorative Boundaries)

Nothing defines a classic front yard like a white vinyl picket fence. Vinyl picket fences add charm and curb appeal while creating a clear property boundary — and because they’re vinyl, they won’t rot from sprinkler exposure the way a wood picket fence will. That sprinkler resistance is a big deal in Sacramento, where front-yard irrigation runs year-round.

We install a range of picket styles, with two being the most popular in our area:

  • Melrose — A traditional straight-top picket with a clean, timeless look. Available in a straight configuration (flat across the top between posts) or a Scalloped Melrose configuration where the top of the fence curves gracefully downward between posts for a more decorative appearance.
  • Regency — A more ornamental picket profile that adds visual interest and distinguishes your fence from the standard neighborhood look.

Vinyl picket fences are available in 6-foot and 8-foot wide panels, with pickets installed using through-rail construction for strength. Multiple picket top options are available including dog ear, pointed, and pyramid cuts, along with a variety of post cap choices to complete the look.

Privacy Fences (Backyards & Side Yards)

Vinyl privacy fencing is the most common style we install for backyards. The panels use solid, tongue-and-groove construction that blocks sight lines completely — no gaps, no light coming through. The most popular height is 6 feet, but we install privacy vinyl in 3, 4, 5, and 6-foot heights depending on the application and local zoning requirements.

For homeowners who want a little extra design, we offer a privacy with lattice option — the same solid privacy panel with a decorative lattice top section that adds airflow and visual interest. This is a popular upgrade when replacing an older wood fence and wanting something with more character.

Ranch Rail / Corral Fence (Rural & Agricultural Properties)

In the more rural areas of our service region, vinyl ranch rail (also called corral rail) is a popular choice for defining property boundaries, enclosing pastures, and containing livestock. It captures the look of traditional wood horse fence with the low-maintenance advantages of PVC. These vinyl corral fences always look amazing in 2-rail, 3-rail, and 4-rail configurations. The  3 or 4-rail versions are the most common in our area.

We install vinyl ranch rail most frequently in Auburn, Grass Valley, West Sacramento, Davis, Galt, Lodi, Loomis, and Penryn — communities with larger lots, hobby farms, horse properties, and rural acreage. For properties with horses, a hot wire can be added to the vinyl fence posts to deter animals from leaning on the rails. For goats, sheep, or smaller livestock, no-climb woven wire can be attached to one side of the fence for containment.

Vinyl Gates

Vinyl Gates: Built to Last, Not Sag

Gates are part of almost every vinyl fence project—walk gates for side-yard access, double gates for equipment or RV access, or pool gates that need to meet self-closing and self-latching requirements. We install vinyl gates to match every style we offer, including privacy, picket, and ranch rail.

One thing that separates the gates we install from what you’ll find at a big-box store: our gate posts have metal inserts and upgraded hardware. This matters because vinyl gate posts take more abuse than line posts—they support the weight of the gate, handle the force of daily opening and closing, and need to stay plumb and aligned for years.

From the Field

“We’ve repaired a lot of vinyl gates that homeowners bought and installed from big-box stores. The most common issue is sagging—the gate drops on the latch side because the post isn’t reinforced and the hardware isn’t rated for daily use. It’s a frustrating problem to fix after the fact. Our gates are built with metal-reinforced posts and commercial-grade hardware from day one, so they stay square and operate smoothly.”

Repair Services

Vinyl Fence Repair and Replacement

Vinyl fencing is durable, but it’s not indestructible. The most common damage we see is from impact—a fallen tree branch, a lawnmower strike, a vehicle backing into a fence, or high wind carrying debris into a panel. The good news is that vinyl is modular: individual pickets, panels, rails, and post caps can be replaced without tearing out the entire fence.
If more than 30–40% of the fence is damaged, or if the posts are failing in multiple locations, a full replacement is usually the better investment. We’ll assess the condition honestly and recommend the most cost-effective path forward.

Common Vinyl Fence Repairs:

Replacing cracked or broken panels and pickets
Replacing damaged or leaning posts
Fixing or replacing sagging gates (often an upgrade to metal-reinforced posts)
Replacing post caps and decorative elements
Re-leveling sections that have shifted due to ground movement

Modular Replacement: Individual pickets, panels, rails, and post caps can be replaced without tearing out the entire fence.

Built for Sacramento

How Vinyl Fencing Handles Sacramento's Climate

One of the biggest misconceptions about vinyl fencing is that it’s cheap and fragile. In reality, professionally manufactured vinyl is one of the most weather-resistant fence materials available—and it outperforms wood in several key areas that matter in our region.

No Rot, No Insects, No Ground-Contact Problems

The #1 enemy of wood fences in Sacramento is rot at the post base, caused by moisture and clay soil. Vinyl doesn’t rot—period. It’s impervious to moisture, insects, and fungal decay. There’s no ground-contact problem to solve, no kickboard to replace, and no post-base failure to worry about. For homeowners tired of dealing with rotting wood fence posts, vinyl is a fundamentally different experience.

UV Resistance in 100°F+ Summers

Sacramento’s intense UV and triple-digit summers are hard on fence materials. We have never had an issue with the premium vinyl we install warping, cracking, or prematurely fading. The product is engineered with UV stabilizers and impact modifiers that maintain color and structural integrity through extreme heat cycles. That said, not all vinyl is created equal—we absolutely see warping, cracking, and fading on cheaper big-box store brands that use lower-grade PVC and thinner wall construction.

Sprinkler-Friendly

In Sacramento, front-yard sprinklers run regularly from April through October. Wood picket fences in the spray zone deteriorate faster because of the constant wet-dry cycle. Vinyl doesn’t absorb water at all, so irrigation overspray isn’t a concern. This is one of the main reasons we see so many vinyl picket fences in front yards—it’s the most practical material for a fence that’s going to get wet every day.

Consistent Appearance

Because vinyl is a manufactured product, every panel and picket comes out of the factory with the same color, texture, and dimensions. There are no knots, no grain variation, and no warping. If you want a uniform-looking fence with clean lines and consistent color from post to post, vinyl delivers that in a way that natural wood simply can’t. Every piece of wood is slightly different; every piece of vinyl is exactly the same.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about wood fences in Sacramento

Does vinyl fence require maintenance like wood?

No. Vinyl doesn’t rot, doesn’t rust, and doesn’t need staining. It holds its appearance year after year with virtually no maintenance. Unlike wood, there’s no ground-contact problem to solve, no kickboard to replace, and no post-base failure to worry about. This is vinyl’s biggest advantage.

How does vinyl handle Sacramento's heat and UV exposure?

The premium vinyl we install is engineered with UV stabilizers and impact modifiers that maintain color and structural integrity through Sacramento’s intense UV and triple-digit summers. We have never had an issue with the vinyl we install warping, cracking, or prematurely fading. That said, not all vinyl is created equal—cheaper big-box brands can warp and crack.

Will sprinklers damage my vinyl picket fence?

No. Vinyl doesn’t absorb water at all, so irrigation overspray isn’t a concern. This is one of the main reasons we see so many vinyl picket fences in Sacramento front yards—wood picket fences in the spray zone deteriorate faster because of the constant wet-dry cycle. Vinyl is the most practical material for a fence that’s going to get wet every day.

Why do vinyl gates sag and how do you prevent it?

The most common vinyl gate problem is sagging caused by lightweight hardware and hollow posts that aren’t reinforced. Big-box store vinyl gates often fail within a year or two. Every vinyl gate we install includes a metal insert in the post and commercial-grade hardware to prevent sagging—the gate stays square and operates smoothly for years.

Can vinyl fence panels be replaced if damaged?

Yes. Vinyl is modular—individual pickets, panels, rails, and post caps can be replaced without tearing out the entire fence. The most common damage we see is from impact (fallen tree branch, lawnmower strike, vehicle, or wind-carried debris). If more than 30-40% of the fence is damaged, full replacement is usually the better investment.

How much does a vinyl fence cost in Sacramento?

Pricing varies by height, style, and project complexity. We provide transparent, detailed quotes with no hidden fees. Call (916) 790-7100 for a free estimate tailored to your specific project.

Do I need a permit for my vinyl fence?

In most Sacramento area jurisdictions, residential fences under 6 feet don’t require a permit, but rules vary by city and HOA. We’re familiar with all local codes and can help navigate the permit process or handle it for you as part of our service.

What makes Fantastic Fence different from other vinyl fence contractors?

We use professional-grade, non-recycled PVC with heavy-wall posts and reinforced rails—not big-box store material. Every vinyl gate includes metal-reinforced posts and upgraded hardware.
