Why Choose Fantastic Fence

Low Maintenance. Long Lasting. Built for Sacramento.

For Sacramento-area businesses, chain link is the most proven commercial fencing material available. It delivers serious security at a fraction of the cost of ornamental iron or steel panel systems, installs quickly across large footage, and lasts 30 to 50 years with virtually no maintenance. The only damage we typically see on commercial chain link is from vehicles hitting it or from people intentionally cutting the mesh to gain access. The material itself handles Sacramento’s climate — extreme summer heat, wet winters, and Delta winds — without degradation.

At Fantastic Fence, commercial chain link is our most-installed business fencing product. We handle projects ranging from simple 100-foot property line fences to multi-thousand-foot perimeter systems with automated slide gates, barbed wire, razor ribbon, and interior security cages. Our crews understand the differences in gauge, mesh, post sizing, and gate configurations that separate a fence built for commercial duty from one that isn’t.

Where Sacramento Businesses Install Commercial Chain Link

Perimeter Fencing and Security Gates

Perimeter chain link is the #1 commercial fencing application in the Sacramento region. Businesses need a strong, visible barrier around their property with reliable gate access for vehicles and pedestrians. Most commercial perimeter installations include at least two gates: a driveway slide gate for vehicles and a person swing gate for foot traffic. We install commercial perimeter chain link for warehouses, distribution centers, industrial facilities, storage yards, construction staging areas, solar farms, apartment complexes, business parks, and municipal properties throughout the area.

Warehouse and Interior Security Cages

Inside warehouses and commercial buildings, chain link is the go-to material for building secure caged areas that protect materials, inventory, tools, and equipment from theft. These interior cages can be configured with swing gates or slide gates for forklift and personnel access. Adding privacy slats to the mesh provides an extra layer of visual security by concealing what’s stored inside — if people can’t see what’s in the cage, they’re less motivated to try to get in.

Sports Facilities: Tennis Courts, Pickleball Courts & Athletic Fields

Commercial sports facilities — fitness clubs, parks, recreation centers, and school campuses — rely on chain link for court and field enclosures. Tennis court and pickleball court fencing uses a 1.75-inch diamond mesh to contain balls, with 9-gauge wire for the strength needed to withstand years of ball impact. We also handle conversions of existing tennis courts to pickleball courts, including re-configuring fence lines and adding divider nets. Baseball backstops, batting cages, and multi-sport field perimeters are all standard commercial chain link applications we install regularly.

Dumpster Enclosures, Tool Cages & Specialty Applications

Chain link is also used for dumpster enclosures (often with privacy slats for visual screening), tool and equipment cages on construction sites, dog parks, daycare play areas, solar farm perimeters, and parkway fencing. The material’s versatility and cost-effectiveness make it the default choice for any commercial application where function and durability take priority over aesthetics.

Repair Services

Commercial Gauge, Mesh Size, and Security Levels

Commercial chain link is built heavier than residential. Here’s how the specifications differ:

Spec
Standard Commercial
Sports Facilities
Maximum Security
Wire Gauge
9 gauge — heavy, rigid, difficult to deform
9 gauge — handles repeated ball impact
9 gauge or heavier
Mesh Size
2-inch diamond
1.75-inch diamond (tennis / pickleball) 2-inch (general athletic)
1-inch mini mesh — virtually impossible to cut through quickly
Post Size
2-3/8″ to 4″ depending on height and wind load
Same — height-dependent
Heavier posts for maximum rigidity

The 1-inch mini mesh deserves special mention. It’s a specialty product with an extremely tight weave that creates what amounts to a coat of armor. Mini mesh is nearly impossible to cut quickly with standard tools, making it the highest-security chain link option available. We install it for evidence rooms, server cages, high-value storage, and anywhere maximum intrusion resistance is required.

Galvanized vs. Vinyl-Coated (Bonded)

One of the advantages of ornamental iron is that it’s built from component parts — panels, posts, and gates — which makes repairs straightforward. You don’t have to replace an entire fence to fix a damaged section. Common iron fence repairs we handle include:

Galvanized (silver)

The standard for most commercial and industrial applications. Functional, proven, and the most cost-effective option for large-footage perimeter projects.

Vinyl-coated (bonded) — black, brown, or green

Used when the business wants a less industrial appearance. Black bonded chain link is the most popular commercial upgrade because it makes the fence far less visually prominent — it blends into the surroundings rather than standing out as a shiny silver barrier. Common for business parks, apartment complexes, fitness clubs, and any property where street-facing appearance matters.

The vinyl coating is an aesthetic upgrade, not a durability upgrade — both finishes last decades. The choice comes down to whether appearance matters for your property and your customers.

Privacy Slats for Commercial Security

The good news is that Sacramento’s climate is actually one of the better environments in the country for ornamental iron. Our long, dry summers mean the fence spends most of the year in low-humidity conditions, which dramatically slows corrosion compared to coastal or high-rainfall areas. That said, there are still a few things to pay attention to:

Viewguard (Standard)

Solid privacy coverage across the mesh. Effective for general visual screening.

Viewguard PLUS

Premium winged design that covers twist tie connection points for more complete coverage with no gaps. Our recommendation for commercial applications where maximum concealment matters.

Privacy slats are best installed at the same time as the fence for the cleanest result, though they can be retrofitted to an existing chain link installation. For businesses, the small additional investment in slats often pays for itself by reducing theft and break-in attempts.

Built for Sacramento

Barbed Wire and Razor Ribbon

For commercial properties that need an additional climbing deterrent, we install barbed wire and razor ribbon on top of chain link fencing. Three strands of barbed wire is the most common configuration and provides an effective deterrent for the vast majority of commercial properties. Razor ribbon (concertina wire) is a step up in security and is typically reserved for high-security industrial, government, or correctional applications.

Note: Barbed wire and razor ribbon are regulated by local ordinances. In most Sacramento-area jurisdictions, they’re permitted on commercial and industrial properties but restricted or prohibited in residential zones. We’ll advise you on what’s allowed for your specific location.

Commercial Gates: Slide vs. Swing and Track Systems

Most commercial properties need at least two gates: a driveway slide gate for vehicle access and a person swing gate for foot traffic. The slide gate is the preferred choice for commercial driveways because it rolls completely out of the way along the fence line when opened, hiding behind the adjacent fence. This means the gate doesn’t obstruct parking spots, storage areas, or loading zones near the opening — a critical advantage on commercial properties where every square foot of usable space matters.

Slide gates can cover very wide openings (20–30 feet or more) with a single gate panel, so you only need to move one gate to open the full driveway. Compare that to a double swing gate, where you’d need to move both panels separately and maintain clear swing space on both sides.

V-Track vs. Front Roll Wheel Systems

Factor
V-Track
Front Roll Wheel
How it works
Gate rolls on a V-wheel along a ground-level V-shaped track
Gate rolls on wheels mounted to the front of the frame; rear pipe track for guidance
Gate alignment
Perfectly straight travel — arrives at latch point aligned every time
Good alignment, but can drift slightly over time
Surface requirement
Needs concrete under the full travel path. If on asphalt or landscape, a concrete mow strip must be poured — adds significant cost
No ground-level track required — works on any surface
Heavy equipment
V-track on the ground is annoying for forklifts/heavy machinery to drive over and can get damaged
Better for forklift traffic — no ground obstruction
Best for
Concrete driveways and landing areas; properties without heavy equipment crossing the gate path
Asphalt or landscape surfaces; properties with forklift or heavy vehicle traffic
Sound/wind blocking
Minimal — open design lets both through
Wood board on board or Durabond steel
FROM THE FIELD

If your driveway and gate landing area are both fully on concrete, V-track gives you the cleanest operation — the gate runs perfectly straight and latches precisely. If you’re on asphalt, the concrete mow strip cost can be substantial. And if forklifts or heavy machinery cross the gate path regularly, front roll wheels are the way to go — a V-track in a forklift lane is asking for trouble.

Repair and Replacement

Commercial Chain Link Fence and Gate Repair

Commercial chain link takes more abuse than residential — vehicle impacts, loading dock collisions, attempted break-ins, and heavy daily gate use all take a toll. Because chain link is modular, most damage can be repaired quickly without replacing the entire fence. Common commercial repairs include:

  • Replacing sections of cut, bent, or damaged mesh
  • Straightening or replacing posts and top rails bent by vehicle impact
  • Repairing or replacing slide gate rollers, tracks, and hardware
  • Replacing damaged barbed wire or razor ribbon
  • Re-tensioning sagging mesh across long runs
  • Repairing automated gate openers, loop sensors, and keypads

We carry a wide range of commercial chain link parts in stock and can respond quickly to repair requests — because a damaged perimeter fence or non-functioning gate is a security issue that can’t wait.
